Assalamualaikum wbt and hello my wonderful friends! Do you ever make wishes? Or maybe say little prayers in your heart for things you hope for? Like wishing for a sunny day to play outside, or praying for everyone in your family to be happy and safe?

Well, today I want to share a story about a very, very special prayer made a long, long, LONG time ago! It is a prayer that is so important, it is even written in the Holy Qur'an!

Who Made This Special Prayer?

The prayer was made by a very good and very important Prophet named Ibrahim a.s (Abraham in English). Prophet Ibrahim a.s was a super special messenger of Allah (God). He loved Allah very much and always tried his best to follow Allah's way.

Where Was He Thinking About?

Prophet Ibrahim was thinking about a very special city. A city that is still super important for Muslim friends all over the world today! The city of Makkah! Makkah is the place with the Kaaba, the little black cube building where people go for Umra and Hajj.

What Was His Big Wish?

Prophet Ibrahim a.s loved Makkah very much. He wanted it to be the best place ever! So, he raised his hands and talked to Allah. He said (something like this in simple words):

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

And remember Abraham said: "My Lord, make this a City of Peace, and feed its people with fruits,-such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day." He said: "(Yea), and such as reject Faith,-for a while will I grant them their pleasure, but will soon drive them to the torment of Fire,- an evil destination (indeed)!"

"Oh my dear Lord! Please make this city, Makkah, a super safe and peaceful place! A place where nobody fights, nobody steals, nobody gets hurt. A cozy, safe home for everyone!"

"And please give the people who live here yummy food to eat! Lots of different kinds of fruits and good things! Especially for the ones who believe in You, Allah, and believe in the Last Day (the day we meet You again)."

Wow! What a beautiful prayer, right? He asked for two main things:

  1. Safety: Like a warm, cozy house where everyone feels protected and happy. No worries!

  2. Yummy Food (Provision): Enough good food so people can be healthy and strong.

Why Did He Ask for These Things?

Prophet Ibrahim a.s knew something very important. He knew that for people to live happily, to learn about Allah, to be kind, and to build a good community, they first need to feel safe and have enough food to eat.

If people are always scared, or always hungry, it is very hard to think about other good things, right? Safety and food are like the strong floor and walls of a happy house!

What Was Allah's Answer?

Did Allah listen to this beautiful prayer? Yes, He did! Allah answered Prophet Ibrahim a.s. He said (something like this):

"Yes, I accept your doa! The believers who live here will get safety and yummy food."

"BUT... what about those who don't believe? Well... I will let them have some fun and enjoy the food and good things in this world for a little while."

"But later, because they chose not to follow the good path, I will have to lead them to a place of punishment (the Fire). And that is not a nice place to end up." (WHAT was Allah's condition?)

So, Allah is very kind and gives good things even to those who don't believe, but only for a short time here on Earth. The real, forever happiness is saved for those who believe and do good things.

Connecting to God's Big Plan (The 5 Jewels!)

Prophet Ibrahim's doa was super wise! It was actually asking Allah to protect the most important treasures God gave us! Remember we talked about the Maqasid al-Shariah, the five special jewels?

  • Asking for Safety helps protect our Life (Jewel #2) and our Families & Honor (Jewel #4).

  • Asking for Yummy Food helps protect our Property (Jewel #5, because food comes from the land/work) and helps keep our Minds clear and healthy (Jewel #3, because hungry people can't think well!).

  • And living in a safe, happy place helps everyone practice their Faith (Jewel #1) peacefully! See? Prophet Ibrahim's simple prayer was actually asking Allah to protect all five precious jewels in the city of Makkah!

Thinking About Today...

Prophet Ibrahim's doa was for Makkah, long ago. But his wish for a safe home with enough food is something everyone in the whole world still wishes for today, right? Everywhere!

We want our own homes, our towns, our country (like beautiful Malaysia!) to be safe and peaceful. We want everyone to have enough yummy food to eat so they can grow strong and happy.

Sadly, sometimes we see places in the world where these simple wishes are not coming true. Like places like Gaza, people are not safe. Their homes (Property) are broken.

Their lives are in danger. They don't have enough food or medicine. Their five precious jewels are being hurt. It makes our hearts feel very sad and reminds us how important Prophet Ibrahim's doa really is.

What Can We Learn?

This beautiful verse from Surah Al-Baqarah (Ayat 126) teaches us some lovely lessons:

  1. Pray Like Ibrahim! We should make prayers for our own homes and our country too! Ask Allah to keep Malaysia safe, peaceful, and full of good things for everyone.

  2. Work Hard Too! Prayers are super important! But we also need to do our part! We need to work together (like gotong-royong!) to keep our places clean, safe, and friendly. We need to work hard to grow food or do jobs honestly so everyone has enough.

  3. Be Thankful! Let's remember to say "Alhamdulillah!" (Thank God!) for the safety and the food we do have. Many people in the world wish they had what we have. Gratitude makes our hearts happy!

  4. Remember Allah's Promise: Allah takes care of everyone in this world, but the best rewards in the forever-life are for those who believe and try their best to be kind and good.

So, let's try to be like Prophet Ibrahim a.s. Let's pray for goodness, work for goodness, and always be thankful for the simple, wonderful gifts of a safe home and a full tummy.

May Allah keep us all safe and blessed!
