Tafsir Al-Baqarah 142 - 144 | Usaha dan Iman

Dimulai dengan nama Allah, Yang Maha Pemurah, lagi Maha Penyayang. Bila Arah Hidup Tiba-tiba Berubah Pernah tak hidup kita tiba-tiba kena ‘pusing arah’? Lalu turunlah ayat 144. Assalamualaikum warahmatullah and hello, my wonderful friends! Have you ever received a piece of advice so important that you tucked it away in your heart like a precious treasure? Maybe it came from your mom, your grandpa or your grandma. Today I want to share a story from the Holy Quran. It is about two very special fathers who gave their children the most important advice of all, a long, long, long time ago. Picture an old father with his children gathered close around him. His life is nearly over, and there is one thing he wants to be sure of. He asks them gently, “What will you worship after me?” That is the scene the Quran shows us in verse 133. Who Were These Wise Fathers? They were Prophets, special messengers chosen by Allah (God). One was Prophet Ibrahim a.s. (Abraham in English). We learned about his special prayer for Makkah before, remember? He was a super good messenger of Allah. The other was his grandson, Prophet Ya’qub a.s. (Jacob in English). He was also ...

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and hello, my wonderful friends! Do you ever make wishes? Or say little prayers in your heart for things you hope for? Like wishing for a sunny day to play outside, or praying for everyone in your family to be happy and safe? Today I want to share a story about a very, very special prayer, made a long, long, long time ago. It is so important that it is written in the Holy Quran. Imagine a quiet, dry valley. A kind and gentle man stands there and raises his hands to the sky. He is not asking for anything for himself. He is praying for a place, and for the people who will live there one day. Who Made This Special Prayer? The prayer was made by a very good and very important Prophet named Ibrahim a.s. (Abraham in English). He was a super special messenger of Allah (God). He loved Allah very much and always tried his best to follow Allah’s way. Where Was He Thinking About? Prophet Ibrahim a.s. was thinking about a very special ...

Arafah Sermon 2024 and the Five Treasures | Maqasid Shariah

Image
Hello, my dear friends. Sometimes we hear something that makes our hearts feel very full. Full of thought, full of worry, and maybe full of hope too. I want to share something like that with you today. Do you know about the Hajj? It is a very special journey that many Muslims make to a holy place called Makkah. During Hajj, there is a super important day called the Day of Arafah. Millions of people gather together on a big plain called Arafah to pray and listen to a special talk, a sermon. In 2024 (1445H in the Muslim calendar), the Arafah sermon was given by Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly at Namirah Mosque on 9 Zulhijjah. Later, I listened to a talk by Ustaz Dr Mat Rofa that reflected on this sermon, and one big idea stayed in my heart: Maqasid al-Shariah . That sounds like a big, tricky grown-up phrase, right? Don’t worry, we will take it slowly. Please Read First A personal reflection from 2024, based on a talk by Ustaz Dr Mat Rofa, whose video is no longer on YouTube. ...

Think You’re Ordinary? What Islam Says About You

Bismillah... Muqaddimah Hello, my wonderful friend. Have you ever sat quietly and asked your heart, “What is my true purpose?” As Muslim women, we wear many hats. We are daughters, sisters, wives, mothers, friends, employees or bosses. But our main purpose, the one that defines us, is to be a true servant of Allah. This post is my summary of ideas from a book about the Muslimah. Its goal is simple: to help us shape ourselves into a complete Muslimah, beautiful in our akhlaq (character), our modesty and our aqidah (belief). But before we learn how to walk the path, we must first understand why this path is so special. Why Is the Muslimah’s Path So Honoured? Let’s be honest. Sometimes the world makes us feel small. We hear stories from history, or see things today, that make us question our value. So let us look at what the Quran and the Sunnah really say about us. 1. The darkness before the light The book reminds us that before Islam, in the time of Jahiliyyah...

Pop! Surprise Blessings? Maybe It’s Your Simple Good Deeds!

Wow! Sometimes amazing things happen in our lives, don’t they? Just like that! Pop! Like magic! Maybe you wished for something really hard with all your heart... Pop! It comes true! Maybe something felt super tricky, like a big tangled knot... Pop! Suddenly, the best path opens up, easy peasy! Maybe everything felt messy and confusing... Pop! All your plans start working out smoothly! Why do these wonderful surprises happen? Is it because we made super big, amazing prayers? Or because we did some huge, heroic good deed that everyone saw? Hmm... maybe! Sometimes, yes! But maybe... just maybe... there is another reason. A quieter, softer reason. The Secret Power of Little Good Things Think about this little secret. Maybe the big blessings come not only because of our biggest actions that everyone sees. Maybe they also come because of the little, tiny good things we do. The secret good deeds that nobody else noticed. The simple kindnesses we do without thinking too m...
